March 31, 2014

Hey Mom and Dad,

It's good to hear from ya. Thanks for everyone fasting for me yesterday. So we had an excellent sacrament meeting. The Hamilton family I am working with were the first two people to bear their testimonies. And they did such a great job. The Bishop came up to me and told me that the Hamilton family was one of the ones that I needed to come here to Florence for.  Right after they bore their testimonies me and my comp both went up and my comp went first. I looked out and I saw that everyone was crying from the Hamilton couple. So they really set the tone for the spirit to be there! I bore my testimony about having the right attitude. I talked about how I helped the habitat people build houses and I told how old the people helping are. I told them one of the older guys is 85 years old and just had back surgery. He took three months off and he is the main framer guy. He has the right attitude and how I need to have the right attitude to be a missionary and to share the gospel. It made me think of the Savior and how he had to have the right attitude to complete the atonement. That really hit me hard. I know if we have the right attitude towards things we will become close to our Heavenly Father and will feel happier. Thanks for everything you do for me. Then we had a good dinner and after dinner we went and visited with Ken Platt. He just had surgery. He told us one of his friends wanted to meet the missionaries and he lives out in the middle of no where. We got lost for three hours but we finally prayed and with the right impressions we made the right turns and we made it out of there. It's truly amazing how God does answer prayers. He answered many of mine yesterday! Throughout this week has been a trial for me but I got some answers yesterday and I know now what I need to do. I love fasting and receiving answers. I fasted about when to come home from my mission and I felt strongly that I need to go home. I don't know why I received that answer but I know Heavenly Father has a plan for me and I know if I listen to him I will be blessed.  It's truly amazing how God answers prayers just like he answered yours with Jeremy! I am grateful that I got to return to my missions and help the people here in Florence. I have learned a lot from them and I have helped people here and touched their lives I know with out a doubt. Thanks for the support and the prayers. I definitely needed them. Well, how did your week go? Anything exciting happened to you guys? How is John doing with his snow shack? How is the rest of the family doing? Well, I am excited to do this week. We are trying to baptize at least two people by the end of the transfer or at least have some one on date so we are going to work extra hard on that. Well, I love ya and thanks for everything you do for me. And pray for me. I love you and hope you have a wonderful day.

Love, Elder Reed

Hey mom,

My week was pretty good. We are still doing a lot of service. We have been helping at habitat for humanity and we have been chopping a lot of wood so people can start saving up for winter. We did a lot of moves on Saturday. I finally sweated up here. It was warm on Saturday and we went tracking on Saturday as we are trying to find some new gators. Other than that the week went pretty good. We had zone conference on Friday. There was a lot of good things brought up. We had a good amount of people show up for sports night. It was fun. So the beginning of last week we were full bike because our car was in the shop. So that was fun. It's been nice and sunny out and today is very beautiful. Today we are going sand boarding so that's going to be interesting. Well, that's sweet you went down to El Paso to support Caleb and Carson. It's crazy how big they are getting. Is it spring break down there? I am enjoying my companion. He is really fun to get along with. My Christ like attribute is coming along pretty good. I need a lot of help in that attribute. That would be fun to take Jeremy out to eat at SASS. Are you guys building a lot to get ready for the SASS show? Well, I can't think of anything else. Well, I love you and hope you have a fun exciting day and drive safe.

Hey Mom & Dad,

Wow, that's crazy Briana stayed there for so long. That's super crazy about Jeremy and his family. Is everyone okay? Do they have pictures of their car? Sounds like Cole got it the worst. How is he doing? That's awesome that Jeremy called dad. I bet that made dad happy. Ya, we need to go finding more investigators since we gave our baptism to the sister missionaries in the ward. So we have 0 on date. So we need to work hard and find some more solid gators. Ya, I stayed here in Florence. I have been here for 6 months now and ya I got Elder Taylor. He is a very hard worker and funny to be around. We get along just great. He is from Alpine, Utah and knows Katy Hill and her sisters. He is a seasoned missionary. This morning we went to the beach to see a dead whale and I pulled his teeth out so now I got a whale tooth, haha. It was just the head as I think something else ate him. That's great about Cris Edwards. I am glad he served his mission. Well, other than that we had a pretty good week. We did so much service it was almost too much service, haha. We went out and chopped wood for the Hamilton family. It was a lot of fun and then had a BBQ and talked how we could become better missionaries. It was great. Then we are helping build a home for habitat for humanity. It's really fun working with all these old people. I think this will be my last transfer here in Florence since I have been here since September. The ward here is very missionary minded. I will have to ask Taylor about his ancestors and see if there is any connection. We gave our car to the sisters because there car is in the shop getting worked on. So that means we are on bikes this week which is okay. But we live in the middle of no where so we are going to have to bike pretty far. But I need the exercise. But other than that we  have been doing good. Well, I love you guys and I hope you have a good week and I will keep Jeremy in my prayers. I love you so much.

Hey mom and Dad,

That's so awesome that Jeremy came down with his family!!! I wouldn't blame Jeremy for being scared. I bet you guys had a wonderful time and ya he looks like you so much. I knew that he would come say hello to you someday. Do you remember when I saw hime before I entered the MTC. I knew he was going to see you soon. I am glad we are getting so many blessing and I am glad God answers prayers! That is an awesome miracle. Speaking on miracles, we had an amazing one. So do you remember me talking about Tammy last week? Well anyways we watched the restoration DVD with Tammy and the spirit was so strong there and afterwards she turned to us and said she wants to be baptized. It was crazy because me and my companion Elder White was going to set a date with her for April 12th. So that was pretty cool. It really hope she gets baptized. Then we were planning on setting another date with another gator but she fell through. But hopefully we can set one with her:) We have a couple of pretty solid investigators and 4 of are less active families came to church. It was so cool. The senior couple that is down in Redport came up and spoke in our ward and they taught how we need to start preparing for General Conference now and about doing missionary work. Then he bore his awesome testimony and how he was converted to the gospel. The spirit filled the room. One of our investigators that is still in high school was there and she said she felt something in there and throughout the classes and we told her that was the spirit and we kinda touch bases on baptism but she said she is going to start coming to church more. Well other than that we have been teaching about 15 lessons this week. I wanna bump up to 25 a week. I hope me and Elder Taylor can reach it. Transfers are here and I AM STAYING. I am so excited as I love this ward. I have been here for 6 months and I am working on 7. That is the longest I have ever been in an area. It's really crazy how fast time goes by! It feels like I just got out here! So my new comp is Elder Taylor. He has been out for a while now. I believe he goes home around August. I am excited to get him because he 's been out a while and I bet he actually knows how to work. So we can tear it up this month. That's about my week and I can't think of anything else. I am really glad Jeremy finally got to see the family. I am really sad I missed him but I know I will get to see him when I get back. I am hoping he will come to my homecoming talk!
Well, I love you and the family and I am so grateful to come back on my mission and touch the life of these Oregon people. This work is so sacred and I am glad to be out here and help these wonderful people here in Oregon. I am so grateful for Jesus Christ's atonement. It's helped me so much in my life. I am so blessed to have such an amazing family that knows about the gospel and lives it. Thank you so much for what you guys do for me. I love you so much and I really hope you have an amazing week. Oh, this week I am picking a Christlike attribute and I am going to work on it this week. I am picking patience. I challenge you to do the same. I love you guys so much.

Love, Elder Reed

Hey Mom and Dad,

It's good to hear from you!! That is a lot of miles you guys put on your cars this past week. Wow, that's cool where did you see all the wild burros? That's funny that the lady believed you when you said there was a fish in the rain water. People are so weird. I am really glad you did well. I am glad you got some rain down there. Well, now this week you guys can get some rest. Isn't it cool how easy it is to share the gospel with people. I love how easy it is to do it. I am excited to see the Gilbert Temple some day. I heard it looks way cool at night time.
Well, things are going great here. We are getting a lot of rain. This week we taught 20 lessons. It was a really busy week and pretty much all those lessons where with less active. Oh, so we found a new investigator out of a less active family. It was so cool. So we knocked on the door and a young lady answered and we said we are the missionaries trying to get to know the members and she said let me get my sister. We talked to her sister and found out she is not a member so we asked her to take the lessons and she agreed. It was way cool. It's crazy how fast time is flying by. Transfers are in a week and I think I am getting transferred. It's sad because I love this area. Well, other than that we have been finding and teaching a bunch.
Well, I love you and hope you have a great week.

Love you, Elder Reed
